Water Cents Scholarship Application

 

Eligibility:

*Scholarships will be awarded to area high school or college students who receive water service, or whose parents have service with North Prairie Regional Water District.

Or

*To students who are enrolled in or plan to enroll in the Bismarck State College Water & Wastewater technology course that are receiving water service from North Prairie Regional Water District.

*NPRWD members in good standing & their family members

 

*Applicants must attend or plan to attend an accredited college, university, vocational school or other post-secondary institution. Proof of enrollment will be required prior to issuance of funds. Applicants will be considered without regard to age, color, gender, race, creed, or country of origin.

 

Entry Requirements:

The applicant must submit the following:

            *Official application form

            *High School transcript with a 2.5 GPA

            *Paragraph summarizing career goals

            *List of extracurricular activities

            *A brief essay (400-500 words) the importance of water in our world today.

 

Time Schedule:

Completed applications must be postmarked by April 1, 2024

 

Support Provided:

Individual one-time $1000 scholarships will be awarded to be used to defray the costs of tuition books, room, and board at an accredited institution of higher learning or tuition for the BSC Water and Waste Water Technology Program. The number of scholarships awarded will be determined annually based on voluntary customer participation in the water cents scholarship. Each year, at the NPRWD annual meeting, the scholarship will be distributed.

Rules for BSC Water & Waste Water Technology Scholarship: If a recipient fails, or for any other reason, discontinues the training (excluding death), the recipient will be liable for all scholarship funds awarded by NPRWD.

Upon completion of the training program (one academic year), if a position is available, NPRWD may offer student one year of employment at their operations and maintenance center located in Minot, ND. If there is no position available at that time the funds awarded through the NPRWD water cents scholarship are considered paid in full with no further obligations from the recipients.

 

Selection Criteria:

A selection committee will evaluate the applicants and select the scholarship recipients based on academic performance, career goals, leadership activities, financial need, and essay.
